Now, it provides courses leading to Bachelor's Degrees in four majors in the fields of Computer, Physics, Chemistry, and biology. The number of students in all above departments is 1154 for the study year 2006-2007, the students are prepared in these disciplines for careers in public institutions and private businesses in Iraq and internationally. The College is acknowledged as a centre of excellence for learning. It has some of the brightest and most innovative professors and instructors anywhere in Iraq. Academic and research staff number are over than 120. A variety of courses for students majoring in the Department of Computer, Biology, Physics and Chemistry of four years' duration lead to the award of B.Sc. degree which is provided for undergraduate students. Students in laboratory courses typically receive one credit hour for 2 or 3 contact hours per week depending on the subject. These laboratories are often overflowing with shiny expensive equipment. The College of Science currently offers the higher programs leading to a Master Degree in the field of Chemistry. .It feeds the offices, educational establishments, schools and laboratories with these specialized and well trained personnel.
